As dusk gives way to the night, encroaching darkness is lit by life. We ride further through the forest, entering sheer secrecy.
Down here, no light but the weight of the dark.
Senses are unleashed. Perception is altered.
A new world gets unveiled, one studded by odd shapes. Patterns never seen before.
We float slowly into the bushes, slipping into a hush of amniotic calm.
Overwhelmed by sweet, thrilling distortions.
Aliens underwater, steelheads shimmer like giant submarines. Arboreal mushrooms like canopies, shelters in the middle of the dark. Roots like mountain ridges. Flowers become enormous plane trees, stems just as massive trunks. Chirping crickets, blissful choir of wisdom.
The animal kingdom peers at us. Eyes of lurking presence caress us.
We are the observed, not the observers.
We move our feet, darting in the dark blue, relishing primordial panic.
In the chill darkness of the night, resting on a gentle feeling of belonging, we enjoy this pristine place.

We went into the woods and waited for the twilight.
