Tokyo Hangouts. Where does our Community feel best?

We walked the streets of Tokyo and asked locals about their favorite spots in the city. Each one was captured through the lenses of photographer Nathalie Scarlett. This shooting was an occasion to delve into personal connections towards the city, moreover how personal bonds reflect into the spaces in which we live. Also, we have man and woman sections to shoot. We asked all our favorite duos about the reasoning behind their choices. To see the city as they do, pictures and statements down below. All clothes are available on our website.

Shara and Sho Okamoto at Pao Caravansarai: A dear friend introduced us to this restaurant. They have rugs they had bought themselves in Afghanistan. We love both the food and the interior decor, and that's why it's our favourite place in Tokyo.

Yuka and Lisa at Hi Bridge Books.

Yuka: I love books. We love books!

Kiyoshy and his wife in Kabukicho area.

Kiyoshy: Because with many tourists taking photos of the Godzilla head, it feels as thought we ourselves are allowed to act like tourists.

Rih and Nina, Singers Duo, at Meguro River Area.

Nina: When I moved to Tokyo I often held parties at Solfa in Nakameguro. I still have a really strong attachment to this venue - it always brings me back to the energy of those early days and reminds me of my roots.

Rih: I love the Japanese culture of Hanami (spring blossom viewing) - the space under the cherry trees always brings a smile to everyone's face. In April the magical cherry blossoms along the Meguro River draw crowds from Japan and around the world. I love taking in the newfound liveliness of the town that comes with the waves of cherry blossom spectators. It is a treasured place in space and time where the power of the cherry blossoms can heal you.

Yume and Moly at Shimokitazawa area.
Yume: Shimokita is home to our queer family. We come together in this cozy yet eclectic neighborhood to laugh, cry, connect, and escape from the rest of the world. Throughout the six years that Molly and I have been together, it has also continued to be our go-to place to shop! We've found countless hidden gems in the vintage treasure chest that is Shimokita ♡
Moly: There’s something about the energy of Shimokitazawa. Tokyo is so big and sometimes you can feel lost among the big crowds and loud billboards. But walking around Shimokita, you can physically feel the creative and free energy of the people who love being there. It’s like there’s a little bit of something for everyone that just keeps bringing you back. And for us, it’s our queer family.

Hikaru and Diego at Hikawa Bridge.

Sakura and Shawn at Circus.
Sakura: I chose the club "Circus Tokyo" in Shibuya because it is my usual stomping ground and I hold my own events (AMAPINIGHT) there!

SUNNYBUNNY and Kenta at Golden Gai area.
SUNNYBUNNY: I love the glittering, cute signs and Japanese atmosphere of Golden Gai. It’s like I'm in an anime world! 🌊🌸

Yuki and Tight in Shibuya area.
Yuki: It has been two years now since I moved from Osaka to Tokyo. Looking back, I constantly find myself passing through Shibuya wherever I’m headed be it to meet friends, go to work or return home. I chose Shibuya since it holds so many fond memories, and is a location I am now intimately connected to.
